All That We've Met

I am not used to being on the other side of the tape recorder. Ever since I was a teenager, I've been the one chronicling people's lives, telling their stories. But with Brewed Awakening coming out (have you pre-ordered your copy yet?), I've taken to sitting on the other side of the table, answering all questions asked. It's a bit jarring. See, as a writer you're in charge of the story. You're able to tailor a tale to your specifications, control the narrative. It's the perfect career for a control freak. But now I have to relinquish control. My story is in other people's hands.

To wit, this interview from Pauline Pechin. For her online series All That We've Met, she interviews folks with stories to tell, lives that don't unfurl in a straight line. Over two-plus hours, she asked me lay down my life story, covering everything from fossil collecting as a kid to a stint as a porn editor in my early, eminently misguided twenties.  If you have an extra 20 minutes to spare, give the tale a read. It's me, bare on a flickering page. And for the record, do I really say "like" that much? Check it out here.
