2) Golden Road Better Weather IPA: To help Los Angelenos survive the, uh, "trying winter," Golden Road cooked up this double IPA that drinks far, far lighter than its 9.4 percent ABV. No wonder I was drunk after two tall boys.
3) Stillwater Classique: Where has this beer been my whole life? Clocking in at 4.5 percent ABV and packed with corn, rice and pilsner malt, this funky little beer is earthy, fruity and refreshing. Grab it in cans.
4) Dark Horse Holiday Stout Series: Michigan's Dark Horse makes some of the country's best stouts. For the holiday season, the brewery rolls out five inky presents, ranging from a silky oatmeal stout to one crafted with blueberries. They are all excellent.
5) Sierra Nevada Celebration: Piney and citrusy as all get-out, the bottle-conditioned easy-sipper is my go-to bodega beer for the holiday season. More than 30 years later, it still tastes thrillingly new.
